Steps for Applying

The SMA application process is divided into 7 simple steps. Please read through them carefully.

Step 1 - Complete your Application Profile
You have clicked on 'apply now' and registered on the website. Now it's time for you to complete your Application profile, wait for SMA to review your details. An SMA Representative may give you a call by telephone. Click through each of the Application Profile categories and ensure that all fields are complete. Please make sure that you have uploaded a personal statement as to why you want to study medicine and why you should be accepted. Then submit your application. Please upload the following documents to your account...

Certified copy of high/senior school certificate. (Let us know if you are waiting for results).

Certified copy of birth certificate or birth affidavit (birth affidavit must be sworn under oath in a court of law).

Certified copy of Passport Information page and the first four pages. (Let us know if you are still applying for it).

Original certificate of good health from a medical doctor or hospital simply stating that: 'you are medically and mentally fit to study abroad'. The certificate of good health may also include Hepatitis B & C tests (this can be added later).

1 passport photograph.

A personal statement or letter of motivation (between 100-200 words) for reasons to study the course of your choice. (Please upload your personal statement as a MS Word, PDF or text file).

Filled and signed SMA Terms and Conditions.

Certified copy of University transcripts (for transfer & Postgraduate/Specialisation students only).

CV and copy of Medical degree (for Specialisation & Postgraduate Students only).

Step 2 - Your Application Profile has been submitted...
...and you have agreed to SMA terms, conditions and refund policy. Please be patient while SMA reviews your details. The status of the student applicant will be: ‘Pending or Partial’ after submission. As soon as we receive the student’s application and uploaded documents, we double check it to ensure all the documents are complete. Incomplete documents are usually detected at this stage and we immediately get in touch with the applicant to provide us with the missing detail(s)/document(s).SMA will update your status as: ‘Completed’ as soon as we are sure you have provided us with all necessary information to begin processing your acceptance letter. You should log in to your account with your SMA username and password within 24hours to check for your application status.

Step 3 – Transfer the partial amount of our service charges fee
Your Online application has been reviewed and approved by SMA. An Email with our bank details will be sent to you by our accounts department to transfer the partial amount of our service charges fee. An invoice has been created based on your package selection. Accounts department will notify you once your funds reflect in our bank account. As soon as we receive your payment, your invoice will be updated to reflect your payment amount and will be sent to your email.

Step 4 – Your application has been submitted

Your application file has been carefully prepared and placed in next batch of submissions to Ministry of Education and you are awaiting acceptance letter. Thank you for your patience. This is the waiting part! It can take as long as 2 months. Be assured we do everything in our power to speed up this process.

Step 5 - Acceptance letter received
Congratulations! SMA will notify you by e-mail as soon as your acceptance letter is received and give you instructions on how to transfer the balance of our service charges fee. Please resolve any outstanding payments on your invoice. All outstanding invoices (the balance of our service charges fee-depending on your SMA package) must be resolved before we send through the acceptance letter by courier service to you.

Step 6 - Full Payments received
Thank you! As soon as we confirm the balance of our service charges fee in our account, SMA will update your invoice to reflect your payment and send it to your e-mail. Acceptance letter is on it's way to you in your country.

Step 7 - Travel arrangements and logistics with SMA
This is where we advise all out clients on travelling to Romania, visa processing (for clients who need visa to travel to Romania) and other details about your move. SMA Flexi and SMA Deluxe users will be contacted for more in depth information related to your itinerary and accommodation requirements. SMA Flexi Budget users may upgrade their service package at this stage if they wish.
